EMPOWERING HEART HEALTH

SAFEGUARDING FUTURES

A resource hub for post-pregnancy heart health

Over the past three decades, the prevalence of Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy (HDP) in Canada has nearly doubled. This rise is concerning because having a history of HDP increases the likelihood of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) by 2 to 4 times within 10 years after pregnancy.

Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy (HPD) can occur during or after pregnancy. You may have heard the following descriptions:

1) High blood pressure in pregnancy (after 20 weeks)

2) Preeclampsia or Eclampsia

3) HELLP syndrome

With cardiovascular disease as the leading cause of death in Canada, it's critical to ensure that all people diagnosed with HDP during pregnancy receive the support and resources they need after delivery.

Heart Health Matters is an online platform dedicated to empowering people whose pregnancies were impacted by HDP to take proactive steps towards managing their cardiovascular health.

By offering accessible resources, our goal is to cultivate a supportive community where you can prioritize your heart health and flourish in every facet of life.
