“Traditional” risk factors

A risk factor is something that increases your chance of developing a future problem. It does not mean that you will definitely get the problem.

“Traditional” risk factors for heart disease affect both men and women. For example, having high blood pressure or high cholesterol increases the risk of heart disease in both men and women.
